In a move set to boost the local economy, the Dallas City Council approved a contract to host the International Broadcast Center for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The event will be at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. This decision positions Dallas to benefit from the global attention and economic activity tied to one of the largest sporting events in the world.

Significant Financial Investment and Returns

The city committed $15 million to upgrade the convention center. This, with the primary focus on enhancing the facility’s technical capabilities to accommodate broadcasting operations.

It is worth to mention that the building is scheduled for demolition as part of a broader redevelopment plan. But the $8.5 million portion of the investment was already allocated for other events in the convention center. The remaining funds are directly tied to ensure that the center meets the needs of FIFA broadcasters.

Additionally, fees from use the convention center for broadcasting activities will provide a steady stream of income.
