Dan Patrick Responds to Voting Machine Controversy

Date:

In recent days, claims have circulated regarding potential malfunctions of voting machines in Texas, prompting Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick to set the record straight. The allegations emerged after Lara Trump, co-chair of the Republican National Committee, suggested that an investigation into Tarrant County’s voting machines indicated that errors had occurred but had since been rectified.

Clarifying the facts

Patrick swiftly countered these claims on social media, emphasizing that only a handful of voters, fewer than ten among the nearly 7 million who had already cast ballots, reported issues with their selections. However, upon investigation, officials found no evidence of any actual vote switching. “There were actually no errors to correct once we investigated those few cases”, he stated on X.

One notable incident involved a Tarrant County voter who alleged that their presidential choice had been altered from Donald Trump to Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee. Officials in Tarrant County, recognized as Texas’ most populous battleground area, believe this was likely due to user error rather than a malfunction of the machine. The voter was allowed to cancel the original ballot and cast a new one.

Assurance of election integrity

Patrick reiterated the commitment of Texas officials to uphold the integrity of the electoral process. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. “If you see anything concerning, call the Secretary of State’s office overseeing our elections”, he advised, providing the contact number 800-252-8683 for reporting issues.

With Election Day nearing, state officials continue to reassure Texans that their votes will be counted accurately and that any claims of irregularities will be thoroughly investigated.
