In Texas, 5% of residents experienced stolen deliveries in the past three months. The study found that mail is the most frequently targeted, followed by Amazon packages.
North Carolina ranks second, with a 14.4% likelihood of theft, while Florida holds third place. That reports over 3,270 residential theft incidents last year.

To combat porch piracy, experts suggest these practical steps:
- Hide deliveries: Place packages behind plants or other items to keep them out of sight.
- Request signatures: Use delivery options requiring a signature to avoid unattended parcels.

- Contact the seller: 45% of cases result in replacements, while 32% lead to refunds.
- Inform authorities: Share any surveillance footage or ask neighbors for possible recordings.
- Check insurance coverage: Some policies include protection against package theft, with 11% of victims successfully filing claims.
